Tapestry is most frequently engaged to perform at churches, art centers,
and for community organizations. They also appear as strolling singers
at outdoor fairs and festivals, and provide the choral portions of Advent
services of Lessons and Carols. For details of past performances, see Tapestry's
Performance History.
Tapestry’s repertoire spans several centuries and includes Gregorian
chant, madrigals, motets, and folk songs. This example from a past concert
is typical of Tapestry's full concert program.
A complete program consists of two halves. The first, performed in
formal concert attire, consists of sacred and/or secular compositions of
different styles tailored to fit the occasion, such as Christmastide or
the celebration of a historical event. The second half of the program
consists of Renaissance madrigals performed in period costume, with poetic
introductions.
Generally, programs are assembled from the currently active repertoire. A program can, however, be created to fit your particular requirements. Customized programs might focus on a composer, such as The Age of Josquin Desprez, or a theme, such as Celtic or Chant. We specialize in providing appropriate liturgical music for specific celebrations, such as Lessons and Carols. The fee for such a customized program would reflect the time necessary to prepare it to meet our performance standards. For more details on program content, visit How to Engage Tapestry.
